Hemangioma Treatment

What is Hemangioma?

Hemangioma mostly appears as a red birthmark that can be seen right after birth or within the first weeks of age. It’s the surplus of blood vessels cumulated in a certain area of the skin and it may appear as a bump or flat on the skin. The area and the size of hemangioma do vary but most common cases are the face, scalp, and chest.

Hemangioma mostly increases in size overtime post-birth until minimum 12 and maximum 18 months of age. After the growth phase stops, in most cases, there would be a phase of shrinkage of hemangioma until the age of 5-7. A hemangioma can shrink in size up to 85% during this phase. Even so, this does not mean treatment should be postponed until the age of 5-7. This disease might be risky to the overall health and wellbeing and it can even be vital for some cases. Some health problems hemangioma can cause are such as weakness, high fever, and shortness of breath.

Is it treatable?

Hemangioma is non-surgically treatable from the first month of age if it is on the skin or even on the areas like eyes or tongue. There are no risky vital surgeries needed for the removal of hemangioma. Instead, there are modern treatment methods available in today’s medicine. Climed Clinics Team of Cardiovascular Surgeons is specialized in these methods of treatment pioneered by the well-known doctor Mustafa Bolat, MD in this field of medicine.
